Most fixes are quick: make sure you're on the latest version from the App Store, and give the FAQ below a look.
Jump to the FAQ ↓QDo I need any extra cameras or hardware?
No. Your iPhone is the only camera you need. Prop it up face-on or down-the-line and record — there's nothing else to buy.
QHow do my recordings get onto my iPad?
When your devices are paired, clips transfer the moment you finish recording, over a direct encrypted connection between the two devices. No cables, no cloud upload, no AirDrop shuffle.
In Mirror mode you can also see your iPhone's view on the iPad live, and record or annotate from there.
QDoes my swing video ever leave my phone?
Recording and analysis happen on your device, and clips sent to your iPad go directly between your devices. Your video isn't uploaded to us. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
QWhat are the three recording modes?
Swing — the core capture, up to 120fps, sent to your iPad to review. Mirror — a live coach station on iPad to watch and mark up remotely. Practice — pose-tracked reps that the app recognizes as you work.
QHow does Certus figure out my strokes gained?
As you log rounds and shots, Certus scores every part of your game against benchmark levels — from bogey golfer to tour — and an AI-powered engine turns that into plain-language guidance on what to work on next.
QIs my data private?
Yes. Your rounds and stats live on your device (and your iCloud, if enabled). We don't sell your data. For AI summaries, only your performance data as text — never your video — is used. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
QWhat is a "plays-like" distance?
It's the raw yardage adjusted for conditions — wind and uphill/downhill elevation — so the number you see reflects how the shot actually plays, not just the distance on the map.
QWhy does the app need my location?
Location powers GPS distances, hole previews, plays-like numbers, and local weather. It's used while you're using those features — not to track you in the background. You can manage the permission any time in your device settings.
QMy iPhone and iPad won't connect for Mirror.
Make sure both devices are signed in, have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, and are near each other. Both should be updated to the latest version of Certus. If it still won't pair, restart the app on both devices — and email us if the problem persists.
QWhat devices does Certus support?
Certus is built for iPhone and iPad running a recent version of iOS and iPadOS. Higher frame-rate capture depends on your device's camera. Check the App Store listing for current requirements.
QHow do I delete my data or account?
You can delete swing videos and round data directly in the app. To delete any account data we hold, email info@certusgolf.com and we'll take care of it.
